Proverbs 27:26

Biblical Tidbit

Proverbs 27:26a provides a pretty nifty little biblical tidbit.

The verse simply says: “The lambs are for thy clothing...”

And sure, we all know, lambs provide the wool that is used to make the fabric for the clothes people have worn all down through the centuries. But man discovered that truth long before Solomon recorded it in the book of Proverbs under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost!

So what is it that God actually intended to reveal to us in this verse?

Well, after the man and woman sinned in the Garden, Genesis 3:21 records, what is in my estimation, one of the most beautiful verses in all of scripture. The verse says: “Unto Adam also and to his wife did the Lord God make coats of skins, and clothed them.” (Get a load of that! The sovereign, all-powerful God of the universe humbly and graciously “making coats” to clothe His fallen creation! Oh my!)

And then Proverbs 27:26 comes along to reveal to us the actual animal that God used to clothe Adam and Eve after they sinned! And as you might would expect, their covering required the shedding of blood... and the death of a sacrificial lamb! (See John 1:29 and Rev.4:4)

Hallelujah! What a God. And what a book!
